Sri Lanka sees record visitor numbers as confidence returns

Sri Lanka has seen its best ever year for tourism, helped by political stability and improving infrastructure. More than 1.5 million people visited the Indian Ocean island in 2014, an increase of 20% on the year before. With the new administration promoting reconciliation between Tamil and Muslim groups and the Sinhalese majority, many are hopeful that numbers will increase even further in the coming year.
