Gay friendly

It is certain that gay and lesbian travelers will find in Greece the vacation package that suits them. Some of the most beautiful and scenic islands are traditionally gay friendly, providing idyllic settings for their holidays, while also enjoying the entertainment and a hectic nightlife.

The majority of the gay friendly “hangouts” in Athens are situated in the City Center, in Gazi, in Psiri and in Makrygianni.
Many travel agencies offer specially designed holiday packages for gay people in Greece that include cruises to the Greek Islands, together with selected gay friendly hotels and restaurants. They also offer special honeymoon packages and proposals for gay sailing in the unique Greek seas.

Most of the gays enjoy their holidays in the Cyclade Islands, especially the island of Mykonos, which has been by far their favorite destination for over 40 years. Other islands such as Santorini and Paros have also developed significantly in this sector.

And of course there is always the island of Lesbos (or Mytilini) for the Lesbian community, which for the past 9 years has organized the renowned women’s festival in Epeso, the birthplace of the poetess Sappho.
