Skate to live music at Munich Airport’s Christmas and Winter Market

Those travelling through Munich Airport in Bavaria are in for a festive treat, as its ever-popular Christmas and Winter Market is running at the Forum at Munich Airport Center for the 19th consecutive year.

The large covered space between the airport terminals has been transformed into a winter wonderland for the occasion. It contains more than 40 stands, situated among 450 real Christmas trees, and offers seasonal foods and refreshments like gingerbread and mulled wine, local handicrafts and unique gift ideas.

The centrepiece of the market is the 600-square-metre ice rink, and it’s open to skaters and visitors ready to take a shot at Eisstockschiessen, Bavaria’s broom-free version of curling. Skating is free of charge and rental skates are available for a small fee. A rinkside DJ will create a disco atmosphere for the skaters every Thursday at 6pm with a perfect playlist for a winter evening on the ice, and on 16 December, there will be showtraining with children and pros of EHC Red Bull Munich on the rink.

Daily, except Mondays, a wide range of live musical acts, including jazz, swing, gospel, rock and pop bands, will create a festive atmosphere from 6pm onwards. On Wednesdays, family-oriented fairytale performances and magic shows enchant the youngest of guests from 4pm. There are also seasonal activities like making your own Advent wreath, and visitors will be treated to a break-dancing performance.
