Italy’s culture minister Dario Franceschini has announced that ticket holders for the two Six Nations rugby games being held at Rome’s Olympic Stadium (Italy-England on 14 February and Italy-Scotland on 27 February) will get free entry to 19 of the city’s best museums on the days around the game.

Museums that can be accessed for free include the Capitoline Museums, Palazzo Barberini, the National Etruscan Museum, Castel Sant’Angelo and the Museo dell’Ara Pacis. Franceschini is hoping that in time the initiative will become reciprocal, with other nations offering free access to their museums for rugby ticket holders.
