Wandering through a six-chambered palace made of cake may make you feel like you’ve just stumbled into a child’s dream, but artists have made it a reality for all ages at an LA gallery.
The installation, called Break Bread LA, takes visitors on a tour through 7500-square-foot cake maze and features an ice-cream truck and 1950’s style diner in the back with food served by local chefs, according to a news release.
While at first glance the giant cake, designed by artists Scott Hove and Baker’s Son, looks good enough to eat – the sweet surface is really made of acrylic. Beyond that, the pink-frosted cake-maze is filled with some creepier details, like hidden fangs and switchblades embedded underneath the sweet-seeming layers. The result is a sweet and scary tour through a real-life Candyland.
The exhibit is free during the day and the evenings will feature ticketed-events. It runs until 13 March at Think Tank Gallery.
