Singapore commuters to get free ride on National Day

Bus and train services in Singapore will be free for all passengers on 9 August, when the city-state celebrates its Golden Jubilee. The move is reportedly designed to encourage more people to attend National Day celebrations island-wide, including a giant parade at the Padang, the downtown playing field where Singapore’s independence was first declared.
