Seoul to raise sunken Sewol ferry more than one year after disaster

Authorities in South Korea have announced plans to raise the sunken MV Sewol ferry. The ferry capsized in April 2014 enroute to Jeju Island, killing 304 passengers, many of whom were students on a field trip. Salvage efforts will likely begin in September and could take up to 18 months. Efforts could be hampered by strong currents in the area and the onset of typhoon season in southern Korea.
