The Silvermine and Tokai sections of Table Mountain National Park in Cape Town are to remain closed following the fires that ripped through the Cape Peninsula. The park management said the decision was based in the interests of public safety and for the protection of the environment. Issues they noted included the risk of falling trees that were damaged by the fire, unsound slopes and sections of veld that are still smouldering. Read more: news24.com
