SeaWorld has announced details of a new rollercoaster planned for its Orlando theme park. Opening in summer 2016, the Mako will be the tallest, longest and fastest rollercoaster in the whole of Orlando – also known as the theme park capital of the world.
The new ride will be one of the world’s few true ‘hypercoasters,’ a rollercoaster known for its high speeds and steep drops that combine to create a feeling of weightlessness.
Inspiration for the ride comes from the Mako, or ‘blue pointer’ shark which are known for the speed of their swimming and ability to change direction quickly. The 200ft-tall rollercoaster will be the centrepiece of a fully shark-themed area due to open by summer 2016. Learn more: seaworldparks.com
