For the first time in 20 years, the gum wall in Seattle’s Pike Place Market will get deeply cleaned.
Often called the world’s ‘germiest attraction’, the gum wall will be cleaned with an industrial pressure washer. Taking up the outside wall of Market Theater in Post Alley, the gum wall reached 8ft tall and 54ft wide and in some areas six inches thick.
Although the gum wall was cleaned ‘every other month’, according to a spokesperson for the Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority, this is the first time the gum will be removed from the wall. Visitors will be allowed to continue to put gum on the wall after the cleaning. Read more: seattletimes.com
