Staff at a restaurant that’s more used to well heeled diners enjoying sunset views with their delicious food got a surprise when they found a sea lion in one of their booths.

The pup, discovered at the Marine Room in San Diego, was rescued by a team from SeaWorld who reported that it was underfed and would need some TLC before being released back into the wild. Just why the sea lion ended up in the restaurant isn’t clear, but it’s thought that the El Niño weather system can affect food stocks for sea lions and other marine creatures, leading them to search for food elsewhere.
