Santa Monica is the Los Angeles seaside town that everybody wants to stay in, but for fans of Airbnb, getting a bed for the night there just got a lot trickier. New regulations ban renting whole properties for fewer than thirty days, and also prohibit people staying in the owner’s extra room unless they are in the property, obtain a business license and pay hotel tax. The new rules mean that around 80% of current Airbnb rentals will not be available when the regulations come into effect in a month’s time. Read more: laist.com
