Italy has decided to close airspace over Rome to drones throughout the upcoming Jubilee Year of Mercy, due to fears that a remote controlled aircraft could be used in a terror attack.

Millions of Catholic pilgrims are expected to visit Rome during the Jubilee Year, which starts on 8 December 2015 and continues until 20 November 2016. In more positive news, the traditional Christmas tree and nativity scene will be set up early in St Peter’s Square this year, so that they are ready for the start of the Jubilee Year. The tree, a red fir from Bavaria, is due to arrive on 18 or 19 November and will be decorated with baubles made by children undergoing hospital treatment to represent their hopes and dreams.
