A guided tour company manager climbed out onto a ledge at Rome’s Colosseum on Friday to protest about new rules banning centurion impersonators and those promoting rickshaw rides and other guided tours from operating in the city’s public squares.

The crackdown is part of a push to spruce up and safeguard the city during the Jubilee Holy Year, which is expected to bring thousands of pilgrims to Rome in 2016. City authorities are also planning to install metal detectors at the Colosseum as a safety measure. Read more: telegraph.co.uk
