The city of Rio de Janeiro turned 450 this weekend. As part of the birthday celebrations, a 450-meter (1476 feet) long cake was set up on a table that snaked throughout the city and residents were offered generous slices. Other celebrations this weekend included a gun salute and a historical reenactment of events that may have occured when Portuguese sailors and colonizers landed in 1565. Read more: bbc.com
