Luxury tour operator Abercrombie & Kent Villas has announced its Black Collection 2018, a selection of 40 stunning villas chosen by a panel of experts based on a number of different criteria, including location, décor, popularity with guests and “Instagrammableness”. With each property in the collection coming complete with concierge services that offer experiences unique to each particular location, here’s a selection of some of the most wanderlust-inducing picks from this year’s Black Collection.
Located just a few kilometres outside the town of Noves, Le Jardin d’Eden is a spacious eight-bedroom villa that sleeps 18 people. Surrounded by a series of themed gardens in different styles, including French symmetrical, African and Portuguese, the property also includes a tennis court, basketball court and a boules pitch as well as a playground and a garden-viewing platform. Priced from £741 (€843) per person per week, the villa also has a large dining area for outside eating.
Sleeping 18 people, this Tuscan villa is surrounded by cypress and olives trees and offers views of Pienza’s rolling hills. The 18th Century, stone-built property is comprised of nine ensuite bedrooms and includes large lounging areas, a pool, a wine cellar and an outdoor dining area. Priced from £888 (€1010) per person per week, it also boasts a private football pitch.
Complete with a private pebbled beach, this Spanish villa is built on a 275-hectare private estate on the northwest coast of Mallorca. The property’s name translates as “red earth”, with the villa capped with terracotta tiles and constructed with red-tinged stone and mortar. Priced from £2026 (€2305) per person per week, the villa sleeps eight people across its four ensuite bedrooms.
Sleeping 26 people, Zarassi Estate is built on a 7000-square-metre private compound featuring four properties with 13 bedrooms between them. Located on the southeast coast of the island of Mykonos, which has welcomed iconic visitors such as Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor over the years, the property has a lagoon-shaped pool and a mini-spa. Priced from £1123 (€1277) per person per week, guests can workout in an outdoor gym with views of the sea.
A luxury mountain lodge for ski enthusiasts set in a 170,000-square-metre estate, this Alpine chalet includes a sauna, outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi, as well as an extensive wine cellar and a private 19-hole golf course. Skiers and snowboarders have access to the Dolomiti Superski, the world’s largest interconnected ski area, with one lift pass serving 12 different areas and 1200 kilometres of piste.
