Trekkers rescued by the Indian Air Force from the trekking route to Everest Base Camp in Nepal have described widespread damage and collapsed buildings at key trekking stops along the route. According to statements from the trekking group, buildings have collapsed at Namche Bazaar, Lobuche, Pheriche and Gorak Shep, the last settlement before Everest Base Camp and the closest trekking stop to the deadly avalanche which killed 18 climbers and guides on Saturday. The scale of the disaster is becoming apparent in the Kathmandu Valley, but news is only now beginning to filter in from remote mountain areas. Read more: timesofindia.indiatimes.com
