Rangers in the Kruger National Park in South Africa have started attaching tracking devices to large numbers of rhinos after poaching numbers reached an all-time high.

The tracking devices will allow rangers to keep an eye on the rhinos’ movements which should help them implement new methods of protecting them. Markus Hofmeyr, senior veterinarian for South Africa’s park service, has asked that specific details relating to the tracking devices not be revealed in the media as this information could help poachers.
