Norton the short-haired German pointer bounded to victory in the Swedish national sled dog championships – even after he stopped three metres from the finish line to answer the call of nature.

The sport sees each dog pull weighted sleds around a course while their owner skis alongside them. Ordinarily, the dogs are encouraged to go to the toilet before the start, but apparently Norton was too anxious to race that he couldn’t ‘go’. Fortunately for him and his owner Cajsa Grape, he had amassed such a lead in the race that he had time to relieve himself and still take home the gold medal.
