Police warn of ‘spit and shift’ pickpocket trick in Abu Dhabi   

Police in Abu Dhabi have issued warnings of a new pickpocket scheme being used to trick people out of their possessions.

The scam typically targets people who have just withdrawn money from ATM machines – the perpetrators will ‘accidently’ spit on their victim, use one hand to attempt to wipe the the spit off and the other to relieve the victim of their valuables. Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters have launched several campaigns to raise awareness of scams, both in person and virturally, and urge people to be cautious when withdrawing money.
