The National Park Service has announced the peak cherry blossom bloom date for the trees along the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC.

This year’s peak bloom (when a predicted 70% of the trees will have blossomed) is 31 March through 3  April, which is slightly ahead of the historical norm of 4 April. The warmer winter this year is likely the cause. Peak bloom will occur in the middle of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in The District, which celebrates the original gift of 3000 cherry trees from Japan in 1912. Read more at: washingtonpost.com
