A photography exhibit in Paris cut short by the 13 November terror attacks will come back with a gallery event this weekend and as a virtual tour.
Paris Photo is an international art fair of photography that has been running since 1997 and draws in thousands of visitors.
The event, held at the Grand Palais, was shut down for its final two days following a series of co-ordinated terror attacks on 13 November, which killed 130 people. The French ministry of culture shut down all cultural institutions in the Ile-de-France region shortly after the attacks.
One of the attacks was at the Bataclan concert hall where rock band Eagles of Death Metal were playing, while others were killed on the terraces of bars and restaurants in central Paris.
As life slowly gets back to normal in the French capital, a gallery weekend on 27 and 28 November will feature many of the art displays that were at the fair, but at 54 different venues in Paris and beyond.
According to the Paris Photo website, “such events cannot and must not deprive us of our important cultural events”.
At the various galleries, the artworks will be displayed as they were intended at the Paris Photo fair.
But even if you aren’t in Paris this weekend, you can take an online tour of the exhibit at the Grand Palais and check out the various photographers by exhibit.
The fair and Sisso, a company that makes virtual tours, decided to release a tour of the artwork at the Grand Palais, virtually devoid of visitors after the attacks occurred.
