Pamplona has made a pee-line to stop short-taken revellers relieving themselves against city walls by installing urine-repellent paint to coincide with this year’s Running of the Bulls festival.
The occasion is a massive tourist draw to the town in Spain where eating, drinking, and dancing becomes the order of the day – and night.
This results in thousands of visitors spending a penny against the city’s walls – leaving the area with a distinct unpleasant smell.
Pamplona authorities this year have decided on a bold move to prevent public urinating. Ahead of this month’s festival, officials have given the go-ahead to the installation of liquid-repellent paint.
The Local reports that these installations will be placed in “key problem areas” of the city.
According to Atlast Obscura reports, the offending person will get their own back. The repellent makes the urine rebound off its surface and soak the trousers and other areas of those relieving themselves.
The paint has already been used in the German city of Hamburg where drunken visitors strolling the streets used the walls as their place for relief. As one resident claimed; “it was pee-back time.”
It was also used with a degree of success in San Francisco.
