In 2018, travellers will be able to swim in an infinity pool 50-storeys off the ground. Naturally, the luxury pool with its panorama views will be available at a new hotel in Dubai.

The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm, will be a 52-storey mixed-use luxury development. It is described by the builders as “the centrepiece of Dubai’s world-famous, award-winning Palm Jumeirah island”, and is set to open in 2018.

Palm Jumeirah is an artificial archipelago in Dubai, which extends into the Persian Gulf in the shape of palm fronds.

The hotel will feature 289 guest rooms and suites on the first 18 floors, while the higher floors will be luxury apartments. The hotel will have two swimming pools – one of which will be one of the world’s highest infinity pools at 210 metres above the ground. It will run along all four sides of the building, giving swimmers a 360-degree view of Dubai and the Gulf.

For those who want the view without getting wet, the hotel will feature a restaurant on the 51st floor, so diners can also enjoy the skyline, and a viewing deck on the 52nd floor. The tower will connect to a new mall that will have 350 shops, a 15-screen cinema and 12 restaurants on a roof terrace.

The hotel will be built by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide with Nakheel Properties, a state-owned developer.

According to a news release, the location will offer easy access to Al Ittihad Park, “Palm Jumeirah’s 1.1 million square feet green oasis that features more than 60 varieties of plants indigenous to the UAE and a 3.2 km looped running track.” The hotel is also close to the island’s monorail, which connects to the Dubai Tram and Dubai Metro.

Dubai is set to become the first city in the world to have three St. Regis hotels.
