It’s official: Chicago has won the bid to host the $600-million library that will be built to honor the legacy of America’s first African American president. The Barack Obama Foundation has just formally announced that the site of the presidential archives and museum will be constructed on the south side of Chicago, either in Jackson or Washington Park, close to neighborhoods where the president spent a lot of time in his early years as a politician working with local communities. ‘All the strands of my life came together and I really became a man when I moved to Chicago,’ the president said.
