Train drivers working on passenger services in Germany began industrial action in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the latest strike in an ongoing row over pay. But passengers hoping to use long- and medium-distance services as well as commuter trains have been given no indication as to when the travel misery might end, as the train drivers’ union, GDL, has said they will only announce an end to the strike 48 hours in advance.
