Pop icon, Taylor Swift, has been accused of endangering a rare New Zealand bird called the dotterel, while filming for a new music video this week.

Local conservationists say the singer’s production company flouted restrictions in its filming permit for a beach near Auckland , using a dozen vans and four-wheel-drives rather than just the two vehicles allowed. “It’s really disappointing that such a large number of vehicles would park… and drive all over the beach,” said Sandra Coney, from Waitakere Ranges Local Board. To allay the conservationists’ concerns, Taylor Swift’s production company, Cherokee Films, has made a donation to a dotterel breeding program. According to the Department of Conservation’s website, New Zealand has only 1700 remaining dotterels, a camouflaged shorebird known for its “chip-chip” call. Read more: telegraph.co.uk
