As of midnight on Wednesday it will no longer be legal to smoke in the bars, restaurants and casinos of New Orleans. The New Orleans city council passed the bill to a unanimous vote in January, despite arguments that the smokey nature of the bars in New Orleans was part of the city’s charm and a draw for visitors. The new rules are being put in place to safeguard the health of waitstaff, barkeeps and other service industry personnel across the Big Easy. Read more: time.com
