New Eurostar train fleet adds free Wi-Fi for passengers

Eurostar has added free Wi-Fi for its passengers on its newest fleet of trains. The operator is also looking seriously at providing further routes  – to Bordeaux in France and Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Eurostar says there will be more than 300 hours of television shows, films and games on its nine new e320 trains. These will carry up to 900 passengers and can reach speeds of 320kmph.

Travellers will benefit from the service in Britain, France and while travelling within the channel Tunnel.

In the 18 older fleet of e300 trains, the Wi-Fi is unavailable but the operator will soon be replacing these with the newer models.

Eurostar trains from London link with Paris, Brussels, Avignon and go as far as the French Alps. The operator is  hoping to launch a direct service to Amsterdam next year, while Bordeaux is also being considered as a direct destination.

The latter route would be possible from London to Bordeaux in a possible four and a half hours if the Tour to Bordeaux train line opens next year.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Eurostar launched direct services to Marseilles from London in the middle of last year, thus linking the Mediterranean to the Thames.
