Following last year’s deadly avalanches on Mount Everest, which killed 16 Sherpa guides, the government of Nepal has agreed to increase the emergency facilities at Everest Base Camp. Four doctors will be stationed at Base Camp throughout the climbing season, and helicopter evacuation services will be centralised, with a promise of 90-minute evacuation times to Pheriche or Kathmandu. Previously, each climbing group had to make its own arrangements for helicopter evacuations, leading to sometimes deadly delays. Read more: zeenews.india.com
