Moscow authorities will reportedly spend US$6.5 million to ensure there’s good weather for Russian public holidays this year. The funds will be spent on breaking up clouds over the city for the following holidays: 9 May (Victory Day parade on Red Square), 24 May (Day of Slavic Writing and Culture), 12 June (Russia Day) and the first weekend of September (Moscow City Day). Using technology to disperse clouds for public holidays has been a practice in Russia for several years, but the allocated funds for 2015 are much higher than previously, according to Russian media.
