The government of Montenegro is planning to build a cable car route that will link the Adriatic town of Kotor to the country’s old royal capital Cetinje via Mt Lovćen. The idea first came up a few decades ago, and the current government is reportedly looking for international partners and planning to use a European Bank for a reconstruction and development loan to finance the project. The 15km route would be the longest in the Adriatic, and the trip would take 43 minutes. It would offer fantastic views of the Unesco-protected Boka Kotorska Bay and the mountains, passing near the Njegoš Mausoleum on the top of Mt Lovćen, the country’s highest peak.
