Military coup in Burundi collapses: three generals arrested

Three of the renegade generals who launched a coup earlier this week against Burundi’s President Pierre Nkurunziza have been arrested. One of them had earlier admitted that their attempt to overthrow the president had failed after many soldiers abandoned the cause. General Godefroid Niyombare, who was leading the coup, is “still on the run” according to a presidential spokesman. The president is reportedly now back in the country and is expected to make a national address. Read more: bbc.co.uk
