Passengers on board a Shaheen Air jet from Karachi to Lahore had a lucky escape after the plane slid off the runway at Lahore International Airport.
The aircraft came to a halt in a nearby field and all passengers were evacuated safely via the emergency doors, though ten people experienced minor injuries from falling luggage. The cause of the accident has been traced to a burst tyre, which caused the landing gear to rip from the aircraft, and the force of the crash landing also tore the engine from the aircraft’s starboard wing.
