Parks Canada has announced a plan to double its low-hassle oTENTik structures in national parks. A cross between a cabin and a tent, an oTENTik is intended to be a comfortable alternative to hauling camping equipment into the parks. For the past two years, the program has proven to be incredibly popular. In 2013 a few dozen oTENTiks were installed in La Mauricie National Park in Quebec. The next year Parks Canada expanded that number to 124 oTENTiks in national parks and historic sites across the country. The agency has announced plans to hit 238 units this year. The cost ranges from $90 to $120 per night for a structure that sleeps up to 6 people. Read more: canada.com
