The number of passengers flying with low-fare airlines has continued to increase this year. A total of 4.022 million people flew with easyJet in January 2015 – fractionally more than the 4.021 million carried in January 2014.

EasyJet’s passenger total for the 12 months ending January 2015 was nearly 65.35 million – a 6.3% increase on the figure for the 12 months ending January 2014.

Another no-frills airline, Norwegian, whose services include flights from Gatwick to the USA, carried more than 1.6 million passengers last month – a 5% rise on its January 2014 total.

Yesterday, Ryanair announced that its January 2015 passenger numbers had increased 30% to more than 5.98 million.

The Irish carrier added that its passenger total for the 12 months ending in January 2015 was 87.8 million – an 8% rise on the figure for the 12 months ending January 2014.
