Summers over the last 30 years in Europe are likely to have been the hottest in two millennia according to new research.
A study using historical documents and tree rings has shown that temperatures have been on the rise, but that natural variation in temperatures has been greater than previously thought. The study also showed a 1.3°C increase in temperature between 1986 and 2015, with an increase in severe heatwaves across the region.
