Laos resort exposed for serving endangered wildlife to Chinese tourists

A damning undercover investigation into a resort complex in northern Laos designed for the Chinese market found it to be breeding endangered animals including tigers, bears, pangolins and turtles in captivity for their meat and body parts. The Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Laos, located along its border with Myanmar and Thailand, has become an ‘illegal playground’, according to a report by the London-based Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), which urged the government of Laos to adopt a ‘zero tolerance’ policy toward illegal wildlife trade and also called for the establishment of a task force to tackle the problem.
