A project to expand summer activities in Lake Tahoe has received tentative approval from the US Forest Service. The Heavenly Mountain Resort Epic Discovery project seeks to boost summer visitation by building a mountain bike park, a mountain roller coaster and water activities like kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. Though the Forest Service issued an initial approval, the project received some objections from environmental groups like the Tahoe Sierra Club Group, who claim increasing summer attendance will have a negative effect on air pollution.
