The Los Angeles Metro will be offering travelers free rides on both bus and rail lines on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

The initiative is part of the annual Holiday Celebration Free Fare program, which began back in 1994 to promote safe travel during the holiday season, when there tends to be an above-average number of DUIs. The free rides will be available from 9pm to 2am each day.
