Officials posted photos in two newspapers of the three Boeing 747-200s, warning the owners that the airport in Kuala Lumpur had the right to sell or dispose of the planes unless they were collected within 14 days, prompting a new Malaysian air cargo company to come forward to say it was the owner.

Swift Air Cargo said it legally bought the planes in June and it has since been in touch with Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. “We are dumbfounded and perplexed by Malaysia Airports’ move. Swift is the owner and we definitely have not forgotten the planes,” said Swift’s lawyer. Malaysia Airports said the claim of ownership could not be verified and it has asked the owner for more information.
