Singer Johnny Cash put the small Californian town of Folsom, east of Sacramento, on the map when he wrote a song about its prison and then performed there for the inmates, and now Folsom is showing its gratitude by proposing a statue of Cash.

The 50-ft high sculpture will have holes in the shape of flames in it which at sunset will create a ‘ring of fire’ in a nod to one of Cash’s most famous songs. If funding is secured then the statue and a Cash tribute trail will be up and glowing in 2018. Read more: independent.co.uk
