Low-cost US airline JetBlue is poised to introduce direct flights from New York to the Caribbean island of Grenada in June. Flights will run twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays, from New York’s JFK Airport. Grenada has seen an influx of tourists recently thanks to a much-vaunted new Sandals resort and the island’s rebranding as the ‘Spice of the Caribbean’, a marketing campaign drawing on its unique heritage for cultivating spices; Grenada is one of the largest exporters of nutmeg and mace in the world, and the spices infuse the island’s cuisine.
