Japan’s State Guest House to open to the public

Tourists will soon be able to go inside Japan’s State Guest House, under a government plan to open the building to the public from next April.

The State Guest House, a National Treasure located in Tokyo, was originally built as an imperial palace in 1909, and later became a place for accommodating visiting foreign monarchs, presidents and prime ministers. Among the features of the neo-baroque structure are five main halls decorated with large chandeliers and oil paintings.
