New York’s One World Observatory, the viewing deck at the top of One World Trade Center, will open to the public on 29 May 2015 it has been announced. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday. The new observatory will span floors 100 to 102 of the tallest building in the western hemisphere giving panoramic views of New York and beyond from a height of 1250 ft – the same height as the viewing area of the destroyed twin towers. This will be more than a simple viewing deck, however. Visitors will be whisked 102 floors up in less than 60 seconds in Sky Pod elevators, where they will be greeted by an interactive skyline ‘concierge’ called the Sky Pulse. The brave can also step out onto a Sky Portal, a 14-ft wide disc showing a real-time high-definition view of the streets below. Tickets are available from oneworldobservatory.com
