The EU air safety list has lengthened its ban to 230 airlines from flying across European skies. Iraqi Airways has become the newest addition to the dubious no-fly list, having previously being allowed to fly out of European airports in England, Germany, Spain, France and Portugal.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that it was excluded by the European Commission and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) because it had failed to address a number of “safety concerns.”

The list, according to the Commission is vital because it ensures that every European is getting “the highest level of air safety.” An interesting fact from the list is that 59 Indonesian carriers are not allowed to fly in EU airspace. And despite the worries over Thailand, no carriers from that country were added despite safety fears by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) that saw Thai airlines placed under “special measures.” Among countries which at present have all their airlines banned from entering EU space are Afghanistan, Republic of the Congo, Liberia, Sudan and Zambia.
