A minute’s silence was observed across the world to pay tribute to the victims of the deadly attacks that killed 129 people and injured over 300 in Paris. Thousands of people gathered in the Place de la Republique, Paris to observe a minute’s silence as across Europe others also stood still in solidarity.

In the UK vigils and a minutes’ silence was observed at Trafalgar Square and at Wembley Stadium.

People at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin gathered at 12pm Paris time to commemorate those who died in the Paris attacks on Friday night.

Nick Alexander was working as the Eagles Of Death Metal merchandise manager in the Bataclan theatre on the night of the attacks. The British Foreign Office and his family have confirmed that he was among the 118 victims killed at the rock concert. He was 36.

Rio De Janeiro joined with many other monuments across the world in lighting its iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in the tricolour of blue, white, and red out of solidarity with France in the aftermath of the Paris attacks.

A vigil and national service was held in Notre Dame on Sunday for the victims of the attacks. Parisians were urged to pray ‘for hope not hate’ by Cardinal Andre XXIII.
