It’s the seventh annual international winter pride festival, running from 8 to 11 February. The event – which will include visits to Icelandic hot spots like the Blue Lagoon, music, comedy and a masquerade – is run by Pink Iceland, a LGBT travel company that specialises in tours, events, festivals and more.

In the past, travellers have come from countries around the world, like the US, Canada, France, Denmark, to take part in the event. It’s unsurprising, as Iceland remains one of the most popular tourist destinations around the world, to the point that US tourist visits alone massively outnumbered locals last year.

This year’s winter pride will include social events, tours that will take travellers out to explore some of Iceland’s world-famous natural wonders, and the main event, the Pink Masquerade Ball on 10 February. According to the official website, guests will get to see geysers, waterfalls and the famous Blue Lagoon, and party “until the wee hours of the morning with LGBT people from all over the world, in the charming and very cosmopolitan city of Reykjavik”.

If it’s far too last minute for you to get there in time for Winter Pride, Pink Iceland does run events and tours throughout the year. If you would just rather enjoy Iceland with warmer weather and long summer days, Reykjavik Pride will be held from 7 to 12 August, 2018. Get more tips for gay and lesbian travellers in Iceland here.
