A 73-mile musical relay along Hadrian’s Wall has been announced to mark BBC Music Day.

Hundreds of musicians will journey by bicycle, horse, open top vintage bus, motorbike and unicycle, passing a baton while performing along the World Heritage Site from west Cumbria to North Tyneside.

The event, dubbed Hadrian’s Wall of Sound, is part of a day planned by the BBC to celebrate music, which will feature broadcasts on BBC Radio 2, Radio 3, 6 Music and The One Show.

BBC Music Day ambassadors include singers Sir Tom Jones, Lulu, Ricky Wilson and George Ezra and producer Mark Ronson.

Mark Radcliffe will broadcast on 6 Music following the musical relay and bringing live music to listeners.

Other events include an official world record attempt between Wales and Patagonia to achieve the greatest distance between people singing a duet.

BBC Music Day takes place on Friday 5 June.
