Dubai is filled with buildings that astound even the most jaded city-dweller, and now one of the newest additions to the city’s skyline is set to get a unique new hotel.
The ME Dubai will be the first property in the Middle East from luxury hotel brand ME by Meliá. Set to open by the end of 2018, the hotel was designed by the late architect Zaha Hadid, who is famous for her visually-striking buildings like Glasgow’s Riverside Museum and the Guangzhou Opera House.
The hotel will be inside the Hadid-designed Opus building, her first in the city of Dubai. The structure is made of two separate towers that connect to form a cube with a curved void in the centre. The ME Dubai is only hotel project where Hadid personally designed all of the interiors and exteriors, according to the hotel company.
The hotel will contain 93 rooms and suites as well as 98 serviced apartments. The lobby, café, lounges and reception will feature furniture either designed or selected by Hadid, all emulating her signature style. “With awe-inspiring originality, Hadid’s design reinvents the balance between solid and void, opaque and transparent, interior and exterior,” according to the hotel.
The hotel company has locations in Miami, Milan, London, Ibiza, Mallorca, Madrid and Cabo. It is set on bringing visitors a true cultural-experience, even employing a “dedicated Aura Manager” who knows the city front-to-back and uses their knowledge to make sure their services are truly bespoke.
That’s great news for anyone looking to truly experience the building and its surrounding location in Dubai’s Business Bay, as Lonely Planet recently named it one of the 10 coolest neighbourhoods in the world.
